Our Goals  Webelos is a 20 month program for 4th and 5th grade boys to prepare to join a Boy Scout troop while learning outdoor skills and participating in 20 different activity badges. A well-run group of Webelos is a gradual change from being an 'adult-run' den to being a 'boy-run' patrol ready to fit right into an adventurous scouting troop.

Summary The Webelos program has two major milestones - the Webelos rank badge to be earned at the 4th grade level and the Arrow of Light to be earned at the 5th grade. The final part of Webelos is bridging over into a Boy Scout troop selected individually by the scout.

Is your Fourth Grader thinking about Scouts?
Then you probably have some questions...
Email the Den Leader at the link above and leave your phone number.  Den Leader's like to help parents too.

What the Webelos 1 are "Doing"...
  • September 23rd Meeting Notes
Did you hear about the one that got away???

Our meeting about Tall Tales was a great BIG Paul Bunyan sized success.  We talked about national folklore and the stories we read about at home.  We identified the parts of the country where the stories took place and even played a FolkLore Matching Game.

After some thrilling sound effects by the Bears during a Paul Bunyan story, we went outside to make our own version of the undoable Gordion knot...the Bear human knot.

This week (Sept 30th) is a Whodunit???  Who stole the dollar?
We'll work on fingerprinting (Achievement 7A) to find the culprit.

Caleb is bringing us a skit or song to practice for the October pack meeting.

As always I'll have a few twists, or games, up my sleeves.

Parents, don't forget to work on your checklist.

Boys, read through the Achievement 7 section of the Bear Handbook, and work on requirements 7C, 7D, and 7E at home.  Don't forget to bring your handbooks with home achievements signed off so we give you the credit for your hard-earned knowledge/skills.

Class B's tomorrow...can't wait to see you (and find out who stole my dollar....)

  • September 16 Meeting Notes
We had a good first meeting: Bobcats and Balloons was the theme.  We briefly talked about Bobcat requirements for the two new cubs, and then Emile and Jenna did a good job teaching balloon animals while the parents had a den orientation meeting.  We ended with a fun elbow-balloon tag team relay race.

A couple of reminders for parents...Don't forget the signed den forms and health forms!  Also, if you haven't done so already, please begin the training (YPT from Scouting and Virtus from the diocese) and get them knocked out.

A reminder for the Scouts...please bring your handbooks to each meeting.

Lastly, for the Tall Tales meeting on September 23rd, please read through the Achievement 4 section of the Bear Handbook, and read through two folklore stories for Achievement 4C.  Class B uniforms.
